Order of the Resistance — Commemorative Medal 1940–1944. Established on 30 March 1946 by Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxembourg, the Order of the Resistance was intended to honor civilians who distinguished themselves through acts of resistance against the German occupation during the Second World War. The medal, struck in bronze, features on the obverse the crowned heraldic lion of Luxembourg breaking the chains of occupation. The reverse bears the intertwined initials “CC” surmounted by the grand-ducal crown, encircled by the national motto “Je maintiendrai” together with the dates “1940–1944”. Good condition. A fine historical Luxembourg medal commemorating the commitment and courage of the Resistance during the war.
